The name was again changed to Wilfrid Laurier University on November 1, 1973 when the applicable provincial law was given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Ross Macdonald, who later served as Laurier’s Chancellor.
The Wilfrid Laurier University has an enrolment of almost 17,000 full-time and part-time undergraduate students, and more than 1,500 full-time and part-time graduate students. The university has more than 500 faculty and staff members.
The university has been changing from a primarily undergraduate university to a mid-size research university.
